NEM Swimmers,
The LCM season has come to a close with 3 meets in NE (Middlebury, Bay State & Dover, NH), along with the Worlds in Sweden, the Nationals in Puerto Rico and the Colonies in MD. I, personally, attended the Worlds with 9 other NEM swimmers. I believe we were all very satisfied with our performances and our medal take exceeded our expectations. In addition, we had a great time rubbing elbows with some 5,500 swimmers from all over the world.
The results of the NE meets and the Nationals have been posted on the USMS Event Rankings web site. To see where your swim stands, go to: http://www.usms.org/comp/meets/toptimes.php.
This summer we lost Win Wilson, one of the founding members of NEM, and, in a tragic accident, Marly Pineda, Interim Head Coach of Cambridge Masters. Our deepest sympathies to their families.
The Fall SCM season promises to be very full with the following meets planned:
10/2/10 Upper Valley Aquatic Center, White River Junction, VT (confirmed – info attached)
10/16/10 3rd annual October Swim Fest, Simmons College (confirmed)
10/24/10 Concord – Beede Center (tentative)
11/6/10 Portsmouth, NH (tentative)
12/10-12/10 BU – SCM Championship (tentative)
There are also a few SCY meets, all tentative, in the works:
10/9/10 Simon’s Rock, Great Barrington, MA
10/31/10 Salem, MA
11/21/10 Andover, MA
If all this is confirmed, we’ll have a very busy Fall. Look at the website http://swimnem.org for confirmation and further details on these meets.
NEM SC is, tentatively, planning to hold its Annual Meeting on 10/24 in Concord, after the meet. There will be the election of a new President and most of the Board. All members are invited to attend. If you are interested in serving NEM SC in any capacity, please bring it to my attention, or the attention of any of the Board members (they are listed on the website). Confirmation and details will be forthcoming.
As always, Elaine is looking for contributions, articles and pictures, for the next issue of NEM News. Please send to Elaine Howley nemnews@gmail.com. Thank you.
Laszlo Eger
President NEM SC
