THE 2009 JANUARY JAM: MS PLUNGE FOR PARCELLS

Training for a big swim? Need to get back into shape? Feeling guilty from too many holiday treats? Just plain old competitive?

On January 1st, JANUARY JAM participants from all over the world will track their yardage on Dynoswim.com for the entire month to see who can “jam” the most yards into 31 days. The St. Vincent’s Medical Center Foundation’s January Jam: MS Plunge for Parcells was created to
promote fitness through swimming while raising money for the Dave Parcells MS Fund. For more information and to register for the event, go to http://www.dynoswim.com/januaryjam/.

TAM Postal 1650

Dear USMS Coaches,

It’s that time of year again. Yes, it’s the holiday season, but I mean it’s time for the Jon Steiner Memorial Mile! (aka the TAM Postal 1650)

See: http://www.tammasters.org/PoolMileEntry/1650Form.php

This year we have made two big improvements!

First, we have extended the dates back into the previous year, so any swims between December 19, 2008 and February 28, 2009 will be accepted.

Second, and most importantly, we have added a TEAM COMPETITION!

That’s right, you can now compete as a team. Note that winning doesn’t have to do with how fast you swim, but rather participation levels. Teams in each of the small, medium, and large categories will receive a small TROPHY for winning! Here, winning means that you had the largest proportion of your team members participating.

Details are available on the swim web page:

http://www.tammasters.org/PoolMileEntry/1650Form.php

We do hope that you will encourage your swimmers to participate and indeed that your entire team will feel compelled to try to win the team competition!

Note that swimmers can also submit their split from their hour swim, killing 2 birds with one stone!

Please feel free to contact me at jon@tammasters.org or 415-457-1228 for more information.

Happy Holidays and Happy Swimming!

Best regards,

Jon Haveman
1650 Event Coordinator
