NEMSC Swimmers,
Congratulations to the small but fast NEM contingent who made it to the SCY Nationals and, in particular to our 4 National champions: Billie Ann Burrill, Jim Edwards, Barbara Hummel (3x!!) and Jared Walkenhorst. The ladies took 8th place in the team competition! See the website for the team picture: http://www.swimnem.org/wordpress/
The deadline for the LCM Championships at Middlebury, VT is fast approaching. Jessica Holmes writes: “Entries are being processed and will be posted in the next week or so. So far we have had entries from all over the Metropolitan/New England area, as well as Canada, Florida and California. It should be a fun meet! Register for the Saturday Social too–a great BBQ dinner outdoors on a covered deck with gorgeous views of the mountains and live music by “The Horse Traders”. Folks can bring a t-shirt or cap to swap at the social…â€
Go to http://middleburymuffintops.org/LCMChamps/Default.aspx for entry forms/hotels/etc. To be fair to all competitors and to save time, be sure to enter LCM times. Go to http://www.greatbaymasters.org/convert.html to convert your Harvard times. You can also get a good approximation if you add 15% (9 seconds per minute) to your SCY times.
Many open water swims coming up, starting in early-June. Go to http://www.swimnem.org/wordpress/open-water-swimming/ for a full listing.
If you’re traveling and looking for a pool for a workout go to http://www.swimmersguide.com/query/Main1.cfm. It’s a great site that I’ve used a lot and found to be very complete and quite accurate – listing pools around the world. It also lists master teams, with contact info, that you could work out with – an added benefit of belonging to USMS.
We are still looking for the “Meet Bag†– contact me if you have it!

All of the NEM newsletters are now posted in the sidebar…boy are there some classic pictures and articles in there…
Congratulations and good luck to our National SCY Championships swimmers who all are out in Federal Way, Washington this weekend at SCY Champs. You can follow the realtime results at http://www.usms.org/comp/scnats07/realtime/. I will be posting updates over the weekend.
We have begun the process of converting and posting old newsletters to the site. There is a new section in the right sidebar for newsletters. Enjoy!
This message comes to me from Michelle Rawcliffe of Tri-Y Masters in Southbridge, MA.
“I swim for Tri-Community YMCA Masters team in Southbridge, MA with John Mooney, Brad Davis, Louis Kronfield and Steve S, etc. Anyway, John Mooney (Jack) is our unofficial coach. He is being honored by a local radio station, WILI 98.3FM, http://www.wili.com/fm/, for his volunteer coaching for our swim team. He will be on the radio station at 8:30am on Monday May 14, 2007. It will probably be on the radio and streamed online.
Congrats Jack!!! Good to see some coach recognition!
Entry deadline for NE LMSC LCM Championships is only 1 month away!!! (well actually less than a month now!)
What are you waiting for? The LCM Championships hasn’t been held in New England for almost 7 years!!! Where else can you swim a championship LCM meet in Summer…especially one that’s hosted by a team known as the Muffintops!  The fastest pool in the heart of Vermont. Lodging is going fast so act now unless you want to spend the night in New Hampshire!
The meet website is here: http://middleburymuffintops.org/LCMChamps/Default.aspx
