Tom Lyndon, NEM Patriarch

Tom Lyndon, a long-time leader in New England and USMS Masters Swimming, died last Tuesday unexpectedly while visiting family in Seattle to celebrate his 75th birthday.

Over a 30-year period of involvement in Masters Swimming, Tom held virtually every important volunteer position in New England swimming, including both President of NEM and Chairman of the NE-LMSC. Tom was probably best known for his long-time service as NEM News editor, during which time the publication won national recognition for excellence. Tom was present at virtually ever major NE meet, in more recent years, as a photographer who chronicled the accomplishments of the many young, and not so young, faces of swimmers that later appeared in NEM News. Tom was also standout swimmer with setting numerous New England sprint records and earning the USMS Individual All American award in 1978. He will be dearly missed by the many who experienced his pure love of masters swimming.

Please check this space again to learn more details about how we will honor Tom’s many contributions to our community.
